Normal pre-ovulatory follicle.
Uterus and ovaries from a 7-month old, 55 kg, prepuberal lamb. Picture taken in March during the non-breeding season.
Smith MC (2006)
Two mature corpora lutea reflecting two ovulations.
Three corpora lutea, with prominent ovulation papillae, on one ovary of a ewe from a prolific Finn x Dorset flock.
A prominent corpus albicans is present on the left ovary. Note its white ovulation papilla. Three active corpora lutea are present on the right ovary.
The 6 cm diameter abscess in this ovary presumably was the result of a septicemic event as the lamb was only 2.5 months old.
