Site of Incision.
A common site for the incision for a cesarean section is in the left paralumbar fossa, or flank. The left side avoids multiple loops of intestine that are blocked by the rumen. A midline incision gives good access to the pregnant uterus but at times the full udder is in the way, and postoperatively the kid(s) bump the sensitive incision when they are trying to nurse.
